Temperature range: hot enough is a low bar

Every blanket here reaches a temperature that will make you sweat — the tops range from about 158 degrees Fahrenheit on the HigherDOSE to roughly 176 on the RejuvaWrap, MySauna and IKRUTO. That gap matters less than it looks. Above roughly 150 degrees you are sweating regardless, and the higher numbers mostly buy you faster warm-up, not a fundamentally different session. What matters more is a wide, adjustable range (so you can start gentle) and a reliable timer with auto shut-off. Do not pay a premium chasing the highest number on the box.

EMF: what it is and how much to care

Infrared blankets contain electric heating elements, and those produce an electromagnetic field (EMF) and extremely-low-frequency (ELF) currents. The evidence that low-level EMF from a consumer heating device is harmful is not settled, so treat this as a "peace of mind" spec rather than a proven safety issue. A sauna blanket's running cost is small and easy to calculate exactly — no need to trust a marketing claim. Here is the method:

  • Multiply those kilowatt-hours by your electricity rate. The U.S. residential average is a shade under 19 cents per kWh (EIA), but use your own bill.

Run those figures and a session lands in the range of pocket change — the difference between a 400 W and a 600 W blanket is fractions of a cent per session. We are deliberately not printing a single dollar figure, because it depends on your session length and your rate; the arithmetic above gives you a real number for your situation.
